Blog Update – First Big Festival!

I know I haven’t written for a while, it’s been like two weeks since my last post… and I’m sorry! There are a couple of things I already have planned for the near future, including a new Harry Potter review, but the last few days have been crazy! I’m about to finish my degree in Software Engineering (if everything goes as planned, I’ll officially be an engineer on Tuesday!), which is really time-consuming.

However, the next week I’ll be attending my first major film festival, San Sebastian’s Zinemaldia. I’ll be watching over ten films in a week, and while I’ll obviously won’t be able to write an in-depth review about every single one of them, expect some reviews soon.

Let’s just highlight some of the movies I’m looking forward to watch the most…

  • Aronofsky’s mother! isn’t coming out for a couple more weeks where I live, so having the chance to review it more or less together with the international release will be good enough. I really like the director’s style, Black Swan is one of the best films ever in its genre, so I hope this will be up-to-par. Expect some thoughts on it soon…
  • The Disaster Artist definitely caught my eye as it tells the story behind the infamous The Room, considered the Citizen Kane of bad films. Let’s see what James Franco has done for us!
  • The Florida Project and See You Up There weren’t on my radar until earlier today, but they seem to have had great success on other festivals so I’m really looking forward to seeing what they turn out to be.
  • 120 BPM won the Cannes’ Grand Prix, the second most prestigious award of the festival (last year Dolan’s Juste la fin du monde took it… and you should expect some thoughts on that movie soon too!), which really means something. I hope to be able to bring you my thoughts on this drama set in the 1990s’ France, too.

So it’s going to be a crazy couple of weeks! I’ll try to write as much as possible, so stay tuned!

Update: I am, indeed, an engineer now 🙂
